This project is a series of illustrations of favourite objects, made in two moments a decade apart. The first set was drawn in 2014, as part of an art school assignment at age 20. It was one of the few projects from that time that stayed with me, so when I was turning 30, feeling a little sentimental and reminiscing, I decided to return to the same brief: "What are your favourite objects?" - with different answers, and some of the same ones.
Some things were simply still there: the electric guitar that has now moved through three apartments, and the drawing tools that never left. Some had been replaced by their own successors - different headphones, same function, both equally loved. And some were the same object with a different life inside them: the same keychain, different keys.
I hadn't expected drawing the s ame objects twice to feel like such a different exercise. It turns out, the drawings had been keeping a better track of things than I had. What I thought would be me revisiting my favourite objects turned into them revisiting me.
